NOTE! We will be closed the weekend of January 26th and 27th for renovations to our chocolate production space. Sorry if we miss you!
Starting in January 2018, we began offering tastings of our artisan chocolates that are made right here on our farm! Come join us at our farm store for a tasting of select chocolates from around the world (including Hawai'i), allowing you to experience how a particular region’s climate, soils and terrain affect the taste of the chocolate, "the terroir" as winemakers have so famously coined the term. The state of Hawai'i is the only place in the US where cacao grows fruitfully, some calling it the "North Pole" of the cacao growing region.
We'll share the history and process of making chocolate from tree to tasting. In addition to Hawaiian cacao - grown locally in Hawaii, and on our farm - we purchase dried, fair-trade, organic cacao beans from around the world. We use Organic "Turbinado" style cane sugar to add just the right amount of sweetness, but still allowing the plethora of flavors to shine through. Our selection of products includes 70% and 85% Hawaiian cacao chocolate bars, 70% Special Edition chocolate bars made with choice single-origin beans from around the world. We also sell cacao tea and powder.
We have nearly forty varieties of exotic fruit on the farm, and we'll taste whatever is in season. We also grow several varieties of Native Hawaiian varieties of Ko (the Hawaiian name for sugar cane), avocado, vanilla orchids and honey, so if you've never tasted fresh sugar cane, smelled the amazing scent of fresh vanilla, or experienced tropical honey, now's your chance!
Tastings are by reservation only Friday thru Sunday (check the booking calendar for availability) from 10 to 11:30am and 2 to 4pm. Cacao trees thrive in moist environments, so we operate rain or shine. It's a great rainy-day experience under our dry tasting area with a view of the entire farm.
Tastings are $40 per person and organized under cover next to our farm store where you can purchase any of the chocolates that you've tasted in addition to many other Hawaiian-grown and value-added products. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any special needs.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing the great experience of chocolate with you!
